All The Ways You Can Support Read To Succeed!

Read To Succeed relies on our community’s participation to provide literacy resources to adults and children across Rutherford County. Literacy needs in our community are increasing, and your donations, volunteer hours, and support allow us to sustain free programs and services for those struggling with basic literacy skills. The gift of time and money transforms a life.

In addition to direct donations, we have put together a list of ways to support Read To Succeed and our mission to improve lives through literacy. Together, we can make a difference.

Follow us on social media.

Volunteer!

Although many of our programs have been postponed or moved online, volunteers continue to help Read To Succeed reach those in need. Consider donating your time as a volunteer teacher or tutor for our Adult Literacy programs. We have an immediate need for volunteers to teach adult ESL (English Second Language) classes and ABE (Adult Basic Education) classes and one-on-one tutors for adult learners during our 2020 Fall semester. Register to volunteer here.

A Community Thrives Fundraiser

Read To Succeed is thrilled to announce their participation in A Community Thrives, a program of the Gannett Foundation and the USA TODAY NETWORK. This is the Foundation’s largest community-based grant-making initiative, which offers nonprofit organizations an opportunity to compete for grants through crowdfunding. There are over 900 participating nonprofits all across the country. Read To Succeed needs to meet a fundraising goal of $3,000 to qualify for a grant through this program. Amazon Smile

Although we suggest supporting small businesses first, we also understand the ease and convivence of Amazon! If you decide to shop online, please shop through Amazon Smile. A portion of the revenue from your purchase goes directly to the nonprofit of your choice — at no cost to you!

The Celebrity Bee

Each year, Read To Succeed holds an annual fundraiser better known as The Celebrity Bee! This year, our in-person event is canceled out of concern for public safety. Instead, we invite you to join us on Facebook LIVE for a virtual spelling bee on November 5 at 6:30 p.m. This event will be free and open to everyone, but we ask that you donate in place of purchasing a ticket. We are HALFWAY to our fundraising goal of $50,000! Please help us reach our goal by donating here: readtosucceed.org/product/read-to-succeed-celebrity-spelling-bee-donation

Kroger Community Rewards

The Kroger Community Rewards program donates to local organizations when you shop. A percentage of all transactions on your account are donated to Read To Succeed (if we are the organization you have chosen to support). Kroger pays up to $187,500 on a quarterly basis to participating organizations!

Donate!

If you are in a financial position to give, we encourage you to support your local nonprofits with monetary donations. Even the smallest donations help. At Read To Succeed, your donations provide:

· reading time, supervised literacy activities for families, and a free meal during Family Literacy Nights
· parent-child small group programs to encourage the love of reading in toddler and preschool-age children
· free books for families
· reading programs for middle and high school students to promote conversations around race, coming of age, and education
· classroom libraries for new teachers working in Murfreesboro City or Rutherford County Schools
· one-on-one basic literacy tutoring for adults 18-years-of-age or older
· ESL (English Second Language) classes for adults seeking to improve their reading, writing, listening, and speaking abilities
· English conversation practice
· citizenship classes

$25 helps us buy books for an entire family.
$50 can purchase enough materials to train an adult literacy tutor, cover the cost of one month’s payments for the Read To Succeed cell phone, and pay for a curriculum for family literacy programming.
$100 covers the cost of materials for one adult learner and training for ESL volunteers.

However you choose to support Read To Succeed, we thank you!
