Read To Succeed Receives National Book Scholarship Fund: ProLiteracy Worldwide's National Book Scholarship Fund (NBSF) has awarded Read To Succeed an $885 grant to purchase educational materials designed to meet the unique learning needs of adult literacy students, tutors, teachers, and trainers. These materials will make it possible for Read To Succeed to increase services for basic literacy students and for the program to begin addressing the growing needs of ESL learners in the area.
NGSF grants are given to family literacy programs that work to improve the literacy skills of parents and their children. Grants also are awarded to English-as-a-second-language (ESL) projects, adult basic educational programs, and projects that involve women-focused basic literacy or ESL programming.

Read To Succeed Receives 2006 Award for Excellence in Adult
Literacy Services: The Tennessee Literacy Coalition's first
annual Award for Excellence was presented to the Read To Succeed
Adult Literacy Program. The Coalition accepted nominations
for the award in September 2005 to recognize the excellent work
being done across the state by adult literacy provider agencies
to help adults who lack basic literacy skills. Suzy Newton, Executive
Director of the coalition commented, "We were not at all surprised
that every award submission we received was outstanding. It was
very difficult for the review committee to choose a winner from
such a strong field. Read To Succeed stood out for the
efficiency with which they implemented such an ambitious program
and for their ability to involve the Rutherford County community
in ensuring its success." The award comes with a monetary prize
of $500, which will be used for tutoring materials.
